Deer are Legally Protected Animals
As a qualified deer stalker, I am able to help you manage deer which may be causing damage to your property. Or perhaps you have seen an obviously sick or injured deer which you are concerned for.
While wild deer can cause significant and costly damage to land, gardens, and woodland, they are a legally protected species in the UK under the Deer Act 1991.
There are six different deer species in the UK that can be shot but only during their open season. This is to ensure that the females are protected when they have young that depend on them.
It is also worth noting that the males and females have different seasons, which is why any deer management must be carried out with the utmost care, professionalism, and respect for both the law and the welfare of the animal.
Where appropriate, responsibly managed deer need not go to waste. Venison is a lean, nutritious, and sustainable wild meat. As a certified game meat handler, I can prepare and offer the venison for your personal use, should you wish.
